Dear Ghost Enthusiast,

Ever dreamed of roaming the corridors of a medieval castle? Well, in Dragsholm Castle, you might just bump into someone from the annals of Danish history. Just a friendly heads-up: they might not be of the living variety!

Nestled cozily in Zealand, Dragsholm Castle has stood since the 12th century, making it one of Denmark's oldest castles. And with such age comes – you guessed it – a plethora of ghosts.

First on our ghostly guest list is the White Lady. As the tale goes, she was a young maiden who fell in love with a commoner, much to her noble father's disapproval. In his wrath, he imprisoned her within the castle walls, where she remains, forever roaming and searching for her lost love.

But the spooks don't stop there. Enter the Earl of Bothwell, the third husband of Mary, Queen of Scots. After a life of turbulence and intrigue, he found himself imprisoned in Dragsholm, where he eventually went mad and died. Visitors report hearing the thunderous hooves of his horse, as he's often seen galloping in the castle's courtyard, perhaps trying to make a final, desperate escape.

So, if your travel itinerary has a Danish detour, why not pay Dragsholm Castle a visit? Just be sure to save a dance for the White Lady or tip your hat to the restless Earl.
