Dear Ghost Enthusiast,

La Llorona, or the Weeping Woman, is said to be the spirit of a woman who, in a fit of jealousy and rage, drowned her own children in a river. Overcome with grief and remorse upon realizing what she had done, she took her own life shortly thereafter. Now condemned to wander the earth for eternity, her sole purpose is to find her lost children—a quest that drives her to roam rivers and waterways, her anguished cries echoing through the night.

The legend of La Llorona serves as a cautionary tale, warning children against wandering alone near bodies of water at night. Her appearance is often described as that of a woman in white, her face obscured by grief and her cries heard as distant weeping. Some who claim to have encountered her speak of feeling an overwhelming sense of sadness and despair in her presence.

One chilling encounter tells of a young boy who, while walking home near a riverbank, heard the sound of a woman softly weeping. Curious, he approached the water's edge and saw a figure in white, her back turned as she gazed out over the river. As he called out to her, she turned to reveal tear-stained cheeks and eyes filled with anguish. Terrified, the boy fled, the haunting sound of her cries echoing behind him.
