Dear Ghost Enthusiast,

Greetings from sunny San Diego, California! But as we're about to discover, not every corner of this vibrant city basks in sunshine. Hidden in the heart of Old Town, the Whaley House stands as a monument to the past and, according to many, a home to lingering spirits.

Built in 1857 by Thomas Whaley on land that was partially a former graveyard, the house has witnessed more than its fair share of history. From being a family residence to housing various businesses, it's seen ups and downs alike. But it's the supernatural stories that have given the Whaley House its eerie reputation.

The ghost of "Yankee Jim" Robinson, a convict who was hanged on the site before the house was built, is said to be a permanent tenant. His heavy footsteps are often heard stomping around the house, a reminder of the building’s grim foundations.

Then there are tales of the Whaley family themselves, who faced numerous tragedies within these walls. The sounds of a crying woman, believed to be Mrs. Whaley, and the playful laughter of children, perhaps the Whaley's young ones, contribute to the house's ghostly ambiance.

Visitors have reported many eerie experiences: sudden cold spots, unseen hands touching them, windows and doors opening on their own, and even the faint scent of a cigar, just as Mr. Whaley used to smoke.

Today, the Whaley House is not just a museum showcasing San Diego's history but also a hotbed for paranormal investigators and those curious about the afterlife.
